This is a heartfelt book about what a child’s resemblance to her mother means. In 32 pages, the author has delicately communicated various emotions that one experiences in life such as fear, love, strength, affection, reunion from the lens of a child. 

Aai and I is a story of a child who is anxiously waiting for her mother to come back home. We quickly learn that her mother was away owing to a serious illness and once she returns the child realizes that the treatment has altered her mother’s appearance significantly. The story then revolves around the child’s initial difficulty in accepting this change and eventually understanding what it means to actually resemble a parent.
