This book with the wonderful illustrations by Priya Kurian is a glimpse into the life of the incredible Homai Vyarawallah, the first female photo journalist of India. This book takes us into a busy day in the life of Homai, when she is trying to capture the perfect picture of Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai, to get published in a newspaper. The book was such a delight! We were extremely inspired by the life and works of Homai, who in the India of 1930s, was able to become a photo journalist- something that was extremely unheard of for women to pursue. While the book showcases a very fun and eventful day in the life of this photojournalist, however when we read this book with the context of her history and timeline in mind, we can’t help but marvel at her amazing life and achievements!
